10th December 2025
Chelmsford Campus
We are thrilled to be hosting the 2025 SAPHNA Conference at ARU, Chelmsford Campus! For delegates joining us in person, you'll find all the relevant information about the venue below.
How to Get Here
Car
Chelmsford is around 15 minutes’ drive from the M25 which gives excellent access to the national road network. The A12 is ten minutes away and is a direct route into London. While there’s only parking on campus for blue badge holders (and other visitors after 4.30pm) there are over 5,000 spaces in local car parks. Chelmsford City Council has more information about parking in the city.
Park and Ride
Chelmsford has two Park and Ride sites with a regular bus service to and from the city.
Chelmer Valley Park and Ride: buses run frequently 6 days a week from early morning to the evening straight through our campus. We recommend double-checking the timetables before you travel.
Sandon Park and Ride: buses run frequently 6 days a week from early morning to early evening but stop in the city centre. You can use your ticket to transfer onto a Chelmer Valley Park and Ride bus in the city centre for onward travel to the ARU campus free of charge. We recommend double-checking the timetables before you travel.
We’re just a ten-minute walk from the station which is on the main London Liverpool Street to Norwich line. There are up to six trains an hour to London Liverpool Street which take about 35 minutes. Regular services also run to Stratford, Shenfield, Braintree, Witham, Colchester and Clacton-on-Sea. National Rail Enquiries is helpful for planning your journey.
If you’re travelling on Eurostar it will bring you to King’s Cross, you’ll need to make your way to Liverpool Street station where you can catch a train to Chelmsford.
The bus station on Duke Street is a 15-minute walk from campus with local bus services run by First Group, and National Express coaches usually stopping there. If you’re travelling from Stansted Airport you can catch the regular X30 bus service to Chelmsford.
Our campus is about a ten-minute walk from the centre of Chelmsford with all of its shops and restaurants and landmarks like the impressive 15th-century Cathedral Church of St Mary, St Peter and St Cedd. You’ll find maps at the bottom of this page.
