As part of this year’s SAPHNA Conference 2025, we are proud to present three prestigious awards celebrating the passion, innovation, and leadership that define school and public health nursing.

We invite you to nominate colleagues, peers, or students who go above and beyond in their roles. Award winners will be recognised during the conference in a special ceremony celebrating their outstanding achievements.


Leader of the Year Award – School Nursing

Recognising an exceptional leader in school nursing who uplifts, inspires, and advocates for high-quality care.

We’re looking for individuals who demonstrate:

  • Empowerment of others

  • Motivational leadership

  • Commitment to excellence

  • Effective communication and collaboration

  • Innovation in practice

Educator of the Year Award – School & Public Health Nursing

Celebrating those who excel in teaching, mentoring, and advocating for students, teams, and communities.

We’re looking for individuals who demonstrate:

  • Excellence in teaching

  • Mentorship and professional development

  • Innovation in health education

  • Advocacy and leadership

  • Collaboration and community engagement

SCPHN SN Student Award 

Time for you to start considering your submission to SAPHNA’s Annual SCPHN SN Student Award. 

There are two ways to enter this year: an academic poster or a 10-minute narrated PowerPoint presentation. 

We are looking for submissions that demonstrate innovation in practice - maybe you have led a change through your course in relation to the shift from analogue to digital practice, or you have been involved in an initiative that demonstrates the benefits of early intervention for a child, young person or community. 

We want to see submissions that demonstrate:

  • Innovation: originality of the idea and its uniqueness 
  • Value: demonstrates the intended impact of the initiative on health outcomes & reducing health inequalities  

  • Measurable: evaluation methodology that clearly demonstrates how this initiative will drives improving outcomes 

  • Leadership: evidence of the initiative being school nurse led 

  • Partnership: demonstrates the importance of working with partners to make sustainable changes  

  • Transferable: ideas that could be shared or adopted for use across other school nursing services 

  • Evidence: used to inform development of the innovation 

  • Equality and diversity: ensure that this is considered within your work  


Academic Poster

We are looking for submissions that demonstrate innovation in practice and alignment to the 10-year plan: moving care from hospitals to the community, embracing digital technology, and prioritising prevention over treatment.

We want to see submissions that demonstrate:

  • Innovation: originality of the idea and its uniqueness 
  • Value: demonstrates the intended impact of the initiative on health outcomes & reducing health inequalities  

  • Measurable: evaluation methodology that clearly demonstrates how this initiative will drives improving outcomes 

  • Leadership: evidence of the initiative being school nurse led 

  • Partnership: demonstrates the importance of working with partners to make sustainable changes  

  • Transferable: ideas that could be shared or adopted for use across other school nursing services 

  • Evidence: used to inform development of the innovation 

  • Equality and diversity: ensure that this is considered within your work
